The role

As the Data Analyst at Damen Naval, you hold a key position in enabling departments and management across the board to make informed, data-driven decisions. Working as a part of a new team within our IT-staff organization, you act as a liaison between the business and the data management team. You manage the complete data lifecycle, from gathering data to leveraging it effectively within organization.

Since we are building naval ships, we have to take very strict security measures, which means we only work with on prem data (SSIS / SSAS).

Key accountabilities

As the Data Analyst , your key responsibilities will include:

  • Gathering data from various sources, including ship sensors, production systems, and relevant application databases, and integrating it to create a comprehensive dataset for analysis.

  • Collaborating closely with engineers, project managers, supply chain, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide insights for informed decision-making.

  • Determining and sustaining data ownership, formulating and upholding quality rules, developing a data risk profile, ensuring data security, and managing definitions and descriptions according to data governance.

  • Performing statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in the data; generating reports and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders and decision-makers.

  • Ensuring data accuracy by identifying and rectifying errors or inconsistencies and validating data to maintain its quality and reliability.

  • Supporting and training end-users on reporting tools and best practices.

  • Identifying areas where data analysis can enhance operational efficiency or streamline processes.

  • Staying updated on the latest tools and technologies in data analysis and exploring new methods and approaches to improve the effectiveness of DN’s data analysis needs.

  • Documenting data analysis processes, methodologies, and findings to facilitate knowledge sharing and future reference.

Skills & experience

To excel as a Data Analyst , you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • 5+ years of experience with providing business critical insights through data analysis.

  • Experience in working with Power BI or SSAS data analysis tools.

  • (Preferably) experience in the maritime / defense or related industry.

  • Experience in data management in a large international company.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.

  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
