Highland Councilors to Consider Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm

Highland Councilors to Consider Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm

The Highland Council will consider Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm plan next week, following a request for consideration from the Scottish Government.

The local authority has advised that the councilors do not object to the plan, BBC reports.

Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (BOWL) submitted an application to Scottish Ministers in April 2012 for consent to develop the Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm in the Outer Moray Firth. If approved, the construction could start in 2015 and the wind farm could be operational by the middle of 2018.

The proposed wind farm would have a maximum of 142 to 277 turbines, depending on turbine size, and would generate up to 1,000MW of wind power.
