KD Marine Completes Work on Sevan Hummingbird FPSO

KD Marine, specialists in commercial diving for the offshore oil and gas industry, has completed a subsea engineering contract for work on the Sevan Hummingbird Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel in the North Sea.

KD Marine was awarded the seven-figure contract by energy services provider Wood Group PSN to supply subsea engineering services to carry out repairs to the vessel’s fairleads. The FPSO, operated by Wood Group PSN on behalf of the vessel owner Teekay Petrojarl, and field operator Centrica, is positioned in the Chestnut field, central North Sea, at the time of the work.

Installing its specialised surface diving system to the FPSO, KD Marine completed the project in 18 days with 28 separate dives. The completion of this project marks a milestone because it was the first time Wood Group PSN has ever used an installation based surface diving system to carry out subsea repair work on the FPSO.

Hamish Petersen, KD Marine Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to have completed this project safely and on time. We focus on providing our client’s with innovative and reliable underwater intervention solutions that ensure the work we carry out does not affect the production of facilities. This project highlights the strength of our ability to deliver shallow diving engineering by integrating our divers and systems with the installation.

Adam Hull, Wood Group PSN Operations Manager on the Sevan Hummingbird, added: “We chose KD Marine’s installation based dive system because it enabled the subsea work to be completed with minimum disruption to the daily operations of the FPSO. KD Marine demonstrated good project management expertise to complete the work safely, on time and using reliable equipment.
