Maersk to Complete Drilling of Well at Kristin Field

Maersk Oil, operator of production licence 431, is about to complete drilling of wildcat well 6406/3-9. The well encountered oil.

The well is about 7 kilometres southeast of the Kristin field in the Norwegian Sea.

The well encountered oil in two zones distributed over several thin sandstone layers in both formations. The sandstone layers were thinner and the reservoir quality poorer than expected in these formations.

The discovery is not considered commercially interesting. Future studies will quantify the volumes and highlight any additional potential.
