New Dredging and Offshore Orders Give Niron Staal Flying Start in 2012

Niron Staal has recently secured orders for advanced equipment in its core markets of dredging and offshore valued to approximately €2,0 million.

“With these orders Niron makes a flying start in 2012” says Harco Groen, General Manager of Niron Staal. “These orders further reinforce the companies belief that there will be continued demand for its specialty of machining large objects, its high tensile steel (S690) welding competences and its attractive facility.”

VOSTA LMG, Subsea7, Bibby Offshore (through sister company Shipdock), IHC Handling Systems and an undiclosed party in the offshore industry have awarded the orders to Niron Staal.

Co-maker VOSTA LMG awarded the largest order which includes construction of cutter heads for DEME in Belgium. These cutters will be installed on DEME’s CSD Ambiorix. The cutter heads shall be delivered in the second and third quarter of this year.

IHC Handling Systems ordered parts for a pile guiding tool for the offshore wind industry. Subsea7 and Bibby Offshore ordered machining work and light steel construction work for their ships ‘Seven Eagle’ and ‘Bibby Sapphire’.

An undisclosed party active in the offshore industry ordered parts which will be used for an offshore construction. The order has been awarded to Niron Staal because of its competences of S690 (high tensile steel) welding. This particular part specifies 150 mm thick K-welds in specially ordered steel plates with CE > 0,72.

Harco Groen: “These orders confirm our expectations. The markets in which we are active, show signs of recovery and it is good to see that our reputation is recognized and that our customers are convinced of the efficiency and reliability of our services.”

In addition Niron Staal secured a substantial machining order from Nijhuis Pompen (Pentair). The orders give the company a good workload up to the summer of this year.
