Statoil to Use Floatel Superior on Kvitebjørn

Statoil has received consent to use the Floatel Superior mobile living quarters facility on the Kvitebjørn gas and condensate field lies in block 34/11, east of Gullfaks in the Norwegian North Sea.

The field is developed with a living quarters, drilling and process facility on a steel jacket resting on the seabed at a water depth of approx. 190 metres. Production started in 2004.

Modification work will be carried out on the facility, e.g. for tie-in of the Valemon field, as well as various maintenance activities. To accommodate necessary personnel during this work, Statoil has applied for permission to use the Floatel Superior mobile living quarters facility.

The work is scheduled to be complete in October 2013. To account for possible unforeseen circumstances, Statoil has applied for consent to use the facility until 10 January 2014. The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has granted Statoil consent in accordance with this.

Floatel Superior (photo) was completed in March 2010 at Keppel FELS shipyard, Singapore. The facility is operated by Floatel International AB (FIAB) in Gothenburg. It is registered on Bermuda and DnV is the classification society. The facility received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in December 2010.
