Statoil to Use Ocean Vanguard for Drilling at Johan Sverdrup

The consent covers drilling of two wells: 16/2-12 and 16/2-14

Well 16/2-12 is an exploration well which has been given the prospect name “Geitungen”. Water depth at the site is 115 metres.

Well 16/2-14 is an appraisal well with the prospect name “Espeværhøgda Appraisal”.   Water depth at well 16/2-14 is 115.5 metres.

The operation for 16/2-12 has an estimated duration of 39 days, while the operation for 16/2-14 is estimated to last 55 days. In addition, 20 days are calculated for a potential well test.

The plan is to start the drilling operations as soon as Ocean Vanguard has concluded drilling of well 34/7-35 S.

Ocean Vanguard is operated by Diamond Offshore with an operations office in Stavanger and technical and operational support from the company’s headquarters in Aberdeen.

The facility is registered on the Marshall Islands with Det Norske Veritas as classification society.

Ocean Vanguard was built in 1982 and received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in July 2004.
