The position is within the Engineering department where the employees have been divided over projects, in which they contribute to both product definition and the engineering of production information within their field of expertise.
As the expectations of the capabilities of naval vessels grow, so does the wish for optimal utilization. The quest for deeper knowledge regarding asset health, when it will need to be maintained, which parts and other resources are needed, is common among all asset owners. Being a Naval shipbuilder gives DSNS the opportunity to incorporate all necessities for optimal utilization of our products from the very start of a vessel’s lifespan.

Smart maintenance is about systems that can send condition data in real time, and through software algorithms predict and prevent malfunctions. -  It’s about being able to pull all this data together and to visualize, automate and optimize maintenance decision alternatives.

 

You will be responsible for the coordination of existing Research and Development initiatives in the field of Smart maintenance and for the initiation of new ones. These projects are mostly collaborative projects executed by multi-disciplinary teams of internal and external experts. You will collaborate with strategic suppliers, knowledge institutes and the end customer to strengthen and accelerate one of the important theme developments within DSNS.  You are responsible for periodic management and steering information. 

  • Perform the required technical calculations to prove the design.
  • Participate in design checks and reviews in order to guarantee the required quality.
  • Compose technical/functional specification documents.
  • Verify technical performance of vendors and subcontractors.
  • Perform cost analysis on received offers, in close cooperation with the Purchase department.
  • Ensure full compliance to all applicable requirements and specifications, imposed by Class and the customer.
  • Offer support for producing and submitting proposals to our customers.
  • Offer technical support or commissioning activities to projects under contract.
  • Manage vendors and subcontractors to get their timely contribution to the project.
  • Contribute to the further development of the E&A Engineering department.
  • Develop and describe standards and working methods.
  • Technical affinity with ship systems, to be able to analyse them and ask questions to technical experts;
  • You have an affinity with digitization to be able to communicate with technical specialists and optimize the balance between data and technology;
  • You can analyse and give input to new business models for performance contracting of maintenance. The responsibility for new contracts lies with a colleague;
  • You have a helicopter view on system technology, system modelling, data acquisition, data analysis, maintenance scheduling and new business models in the field of maintenance;
  • A technical education at BSc level,
  • Creative within your field;
  • Accurate and efficient;
  • Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team;
  • European passport for security clearance
  • Prepared to work on other locations than the regular office location, in the Netherlands or abroad.
  • Good command of Dutch and English language (written & verbal).
