The business unit Ships is currently looking to employ
DESIGN AND TEST ENGINEER
Your future team
Guilhem Gaillarde, Ships business unit manager: ‘We are a team of 100 professionals, all extremely driven to help designing smarter, safer and better ships and inspire our clients to bring innovative solutions in their projects. Our clients, located worldwide, include shipyards, naval architects, suppliers, ship owners, classification societies or institutions. We deal with quite a variety of ship types, different requirements depending on ship owners background and goal, different design strategies depending on the yard, variable economical and regulation context, which makes our work very challenging but also extremely interesting! To answer the questions of our clients, to support their ambitions, to manage their limitations or to reduce their risk, we need to adapt constantly our technical approach and the tools we are proposing, from rapid and robust estimations, towards simple tests or calculations, up to refined simulations and complex experiments. Whatever the proposed solution, we always focus at delivering quality, trustful and independent answers. Our reward is to see better ships sailing in the Netherlands and around the globe and to have clients learning and building with us trustful long-term relations.’
Your future role
We ask you to perform design, calculations, modelling and testing of electrical systems and components, including their control, of and with the Virtual Zero Emissions Laboratory (VZEL). Application and management (in Dutch ‘Beheer’) of Matlab Simscape/Simulink for VZEL is included.
After release of the VZEL your additional tasks will be setting up specifications, configurations, perform additional modelling and tests of Research and Development projects, like model validation and customer applications in VZEL.
For setting up the VZEL a multi-disciplinary, model based systems engineering approach (SysML) is required, with the emphasis on electrical power and propulsion systems and their control and automation. Therefore setting up and management (in Dutch ‘Beheer’) of SysML applications is included.
