Chief Engineer / Single Engineer

Peak Group is established autumn 2005, Peak Group with its chartering team based in Bergen – Norway, currently operate 30-40 dry cargo, project and self-discharging vessels in sizes ranging from 1000 dwt to 6000 dwt.

The fleet consists of modern, fully boxed tonnage suitable for carrying generals, project cargoes, and all major bulk commodities including IMO-classified cargoes. The experienced staff of the company together with the rest of the partners has long term relationship with most of the European Charterers. The Peak Group is continuously developing and enlarging their fleet to meet their customers’ requirements and become a significant player in the European short sea segment.

Peak Group is looking for:

Chief Engineer / Single Engineer

Responsibilities and authorities:

  • Has the final and full responsibility for the engine room, machinery, (deck) installations and equipment of the vessel and prevention of pollution
  • Responsible for executing the daily operations of the engine room by ensuring preventive and routine maintenance of engines, machinery, (deck) installations and equipment within the framework of law and regulation
  • Ensures that technical spaces and stores are well-ordered and clean
  • Acts in accordance with QHSE management system including the policy statement
  • Ensures compliance with laws and regulations and whenever applicable customer requirements
  • Responsible for bunker operations
  • Responsible for stock keeping and ordering of engine department spares and consumables, including lubrication oil
  • Responsible for keeping the maintenance records, files and administration up to date
  • Performs any other tasks required by the employer that are within the employees skills and abilities pursuant to the position
  • Coaches and trains assigned personnel regarding engine department related skills
  • Provides the master with input for the evaluation of the performance of engine department personnel

Knowledge and skills:

  • Practical knowledge of engineering
  • Managing capacities
  • Administrative and communicative skills
  • Experience with Planned Maintenance System (GLSM)

Essential requirements:

  • Recent experience in the position of Chief Engineer
  • Chief Engineer certificate of competence
  • Good knowledge of the English language, written and spoken
  • European Coastal trade experience
