Within the corporate legal department of Royal IHC's head office we have an opening for a Senior Legal Counsel.

As Senior Legal Counsel you will work closely together with the business and provide high quality legal advice and support to the Royal IHC Group in various fields such as shipbuilding, vessel conversions, equipment sales and business development. You will also contribute to the further development of the legal department and play an important role in implementing and maintaining the corporate legal framework.

You will be responsible for:

  • monitoring and ensuring proper application of and compliance with legal policies and procedures
  • providing tangible and hands-on legal advice on matters specific to the business
  • promoting and executing cross-functional and international collaboration
  • proactively informing and assisting the business on risks, opportunities and points of attention
  • providing legal support to (senior) management in case of disputes, claim settlements and arbitrations (including liaising with and manage external lawyers)

To be eligible for this role, you must have:

  • strong analytical and communication skills across all levels of seniority within the business
  • a positive attitude, can-do mentality and a flexible, results-orientated approach
  • an eye for detail and a high level of accuracy
  • an academic higher education in (preferably English or Dutch) law
  • 7 to 10 years' experience in an in-house legal position or at a law firm in an international setting
  • in depth knowledge of - and experience with contract law
  • willingness to travel abroad occasionally
