Currently we are looking for an: Emission Compliance Officer

What you will do

You will work with the technical/marine/operational teams in Groningen and the commercial/operations teams in Breda. In this role you will have a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities.

Main focus of your job is to build a mathematical model(s) or matrix, incorporating operational and emission data for a large fleet of vessels and keep these up to date. Based on your models and predictions it is our aim to optimize the operational ability of our fleet. You advise and report to the management about the most efficient operational ability of the ships in relation to the CO2 emissions, associated levies and taxes, bunker patterns and optimal speed of sailing. Based on your mathematical models you are weighing up all the conditions for the optimal deployment of the fleet under the prevailing EU and IMO emission legislation, to ensure compliance and minimal CO2 emissions .

Another part is to keep your knowledge up to date with new legislation for future international en EU requirements about CO2 emissions and all relevant upcoming changes like IMO legislation (EEXI and CII). These changes will have a considerable impact in the coming years, to fleet operation and development, where operational aspects (cargo versus distance and fuel) will also play an important role.

What we require

  1. Higher professional or Scientific level of Education preferably in the field of Econometrics
  2. Strategic thinker with various – moving – parameters and restrictions
  3. Strong with mathematical models, to build them as well as use them
  4. Affinity with the shipping dynamics
  5. Affinity with worldwide marine emission legislation and alternatives
  6. Able to translate data into optimal fleet employability
  7. Thinking ahead of the legislation.
  8. Capable to build and maintain an automated fleet emission management system
  9. Self-propelled, proactive and able to work in a team
  10. Will provide adequate and timely management/board advise.
  11. Good written and spoken knowledge of the Dutch and English language
  12. Open minded and strong focus on improvements
  13. Able to work in compliance with our Seatrade Standards
