New Name for Aldous Avaldsnes Discovery

The Aldous/Avaldsnes discovery  recently has been renamed Johan Sverdrup.

The Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Ola Borten Moe, announced the new name during an industry conference in Sandefjord today.

The name is intended to reflect the importance of this project in specific, and the oil and gas industry in general. Johan Sverdrup was the leader of the political movement that led the introduction of a parliamentary system in Norway and is an important symbol of the emergence of a democratic Norway.

While Johan Sverdrup himself played a significant role in shaping modern Norway, I hope this new field will contribute significantly in developing the Norwegian democracy and our society in the future, Borten Moe said.
