Sonardyne Completes Expansion of Its Aberdeen Office

Sonardyne International has completed the expansion of its Aberdeen office to meet unprecedented demand from their European customer base. The Company has acquired premises adjoining their existing offices in the Bridge of Don, increasing the space available by a third for customer training, equipment servicing and warehousing for greater stock holding.

The new training facilities are central to the office expansion programme and provide Sonardyne with the space needed to host customer demonstrations and technology workshops. It will also allow a more regular and established schedule of product training courses to take place in Aberdeen in addition to the in-water training which currently takes place at Sonardyne’s dedicated sea trials and training centre in Plymouth.

To mark the opening of Sonardyne’s new premises, the Company has announced series of training courses for 2012 that begin with SPRINT in March. SPRINT is Sonardyne’s Subsea Precision Reference Inertial Navigation Technology for subsea vehicles. Although the system only became commercially available last year, it has been proven to extend the operating limits of USBL positioning systems and improve the operational efficiency of LBL positioning through the use of sparse transponder arrays. For these reasons, SPRINT has created great interest from both survey and contracting companies.

We are seeing high demand for our integrated acoustic and inertial technology so a SPRINT training course seemed the appropriate choice to kick-off our new training school,” said Barry Cairns, Vice President for Europe and Africa. He added, “The investment we have made in the new premises is a direct response to the sustained growth in business we’ve seen from across our region over the last three years.”
