Wintershall to Drill Licence with Borgland Dolphin

Wintershall Norge ASA (Wintershall) has received consent to carry out exploration drilling of well 33/6-4 with the Borgland Dolphin mobile facility.

Well 33/6-4 belongs to production licence 370 in the northern part of the North Sea, and is located approx. 178 km west of the supply base outside Florø.

The well will be drilled atthe following coordinates

61° 38′ 58.23″ North

01° 44′ 01.55″ East

Water depth at the site is 328 metres.

The drilling operation will start in mid-May at the earliest and has an estimated duration of 46 days.

Borgland Dolphin (photo) is operated by Dolphin Drilling. The facility is registered in Singapore with Det Norske Veritas as the classification society. It was built at Harland & Wolff in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1977 and underwent extensive upgrades in 1999.

Borgland Dolphin received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in September 2004.
