Dolphin Geophysical Declares Option for 'Polar Duchess'

Seismic company Dolphin Geophysical has declared the option of yn 533. The vessel, a high capacity 3D vessel equipped with 14 streamers will be named “Polar Duchess”.

She is delivered from the yard in Spain and the subsequent conversion is estimated to be completed in the first quarter of 2012. The option exercised means a three-year contract for the vessel, with the possibility of further extension of eight years.

Then our current fleet is “fully booked””, says CEO Irene Waage Basili, who has seen three important contracts concluded the last three weeks; first “Polar Explorer”, then “Polar Queen” and now “Polar Duchess”. “The demand for our new tonnage confirms that the new buildings are good investments”, she says.
