PSA Carries Out Audit of Scarabeo 5

During the period 22-24 November 2011, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) carried out an audit activity on board Scarabeo 5.

 Objective

The objective of the audit was to verify factors related to prevention of acute spills on Scarabeo 5.

 Result

One nonconformity was identified in relation to use of manual valves.

Furthermore, improvement items were identified in relation to:

•  barrier against discharges to sea from drilling mud tanks
• maintenance management
• governing documentation relating to securing expertise
• draining the drill floor
• updating drawings regarding the drainage system
• closing action items
• leak from slip-joint
• certification of pressure gauge
