Bibby Marine Finalises Acquistion of Osiris Projects

Bibby Marine, UK, has finalised the acquisition of hydrographic and geophysical survey firm Osiris Projects. The two firms began to develop a relationship during the commissioning of specialist survey vessel Bibby Tethra in 2011, during which time it was recognised there was significant potential for synergies.

Osiris Projects’ has become a leading provider of services to the UK offshore wind industry, having had involvement in the majority of Rounds 1 & 2 sites, as well as a number of Scottish licensing areas and Round 3 sites. The company have expanded their offshore wind operations into Northern Europe with a recent cable route survey for TenneT Offshore GmbH in the German Bight region.

As a multi-disciplinary company with over 200 years’ experience in the maritime industry, the diversification of Bibby into offshore renewables is a natural progression of their core activities, and provides a valuable opportunity for the firm to share their expertise.

Osiris Projects was established in 1997 by directors Andrew McLeay and Jim Walters-who will remain with the company in a management capacity-instilling a number of values that are congruent with those of Bibby; a focus on real integrity in all elements of the business, providing a safe and positively challenging environment for employees, embracing change and driving innovation, while placing customers firmly at the core. Bibby Line Group’s continuing commitment to family values was recently recognised at the prestigious National Business Awards in partnership with Orange, where the group was awarded the 3i Private Business of the Year category.

Stephen Blaikie, Corporate Development Director at Bibby Marine comments “Bibby Marine is delighted to complete this acquisition and look forward to working with the directors and staff at Osiris Projects to further expand and build the business already renowned for providing an excellent service to clients.

Looking forward, Osiris Projects hopes to develop their European and global presence through increasing activities in both offshore renewables and oil and gas markets, with the Bibby name and presence enhancing their already esteemed reputation as a well-respected hydrographic and geophysical survey service provider.

Andrew McLeay comments “This is a very exciting time for the team at Osiris Projects. The acquisition by Bibby Marine opens up enormous opportunities to us and will further highlight Osiris Projects as ‘ The One to Watch’ over coming years. Osiris Projects retains its autonomy but now benefits from the backing and resource of a highly successful ‘local’ company with a global presence and a 200 year history firmly rooted in maritime business”.
