Construction Starts at Anholt Offshore Wind Farm

Official construction start at Anholt Offshore Wind Farm

Jan Petersen, Mayor of the Municipality of Norddjurs, together with Anders Eldrup, CEO of DONG Energy, threw the hawser to one of the first monopiles for Anholt Offshore Wind Farm and thereby officially marked the start of construction of Anholt Offshore Wind Farm.

The ceremony took place on 13 January in and around the future operation and maintenance facilities for the wind farm at the Port of Grenaa and was witnessed by invited workmen, stakeholders, suppliers, employees and the media. Anders Eldrup welcomed everyone and among other things, he emphasised the following:

It’s a great day for DONG Energy as we start one of Denmark’s largest construction projects. Anholt Offshore Wind Farm consolidates Denmark’s position as world leader. We were the first to utilise wind power on shore and now also off shore, and we are certain that offshore wind power is the solution and the power station of the future.

I’m also certain that the Anholt project will follow the pattern of the Great Belt Bridge; when the construction is completed, the scepticism will subside and the Danes will be proud that the project was built.
