Decom North Sea Names New Directors at its Annual Meeting

Decom North Sea (DNS), the offshore oil & gas decommissioning forum, held its annual general meeting last night in Dunblane, with nine new directors elected from across all sectors of the decommissioning industry.

The meeting heard that the supply chain body now has around 160 members. Attendees were also given an update on current projects, which were identified as areas of focus in the DNS strategy at the beginning of the year, including providing more reliable market intelligence and assessing skills and training needs for the industry.

Brian Nixon, Decom North Sea’s chief executive, said:

“We are delighted to welcome the new directors on to the board of Decom North Sea. They all offer a high level of experience and knowledge, which is ideal for the body as we become increasingly involved in building relationships and facing challenges together in the decommissioning sector.”

Decom North Sea chairman Murdo MacIver, director of Peterson SBS, thanked directors and members for their time and support and urged other companies to join the body to ensure the supply chain benefits from the £30 – 36billion worth of decommissioning work forecast for the North Sea over the coming decades.

New directors are Callum Falconer, Marathon Oil Company; Iain Riach, Wood Group PSN; Roger Esson, RBG Ltd; Simon Coles, Babcock International Group; Stuart Wordsworth, InterAct Activity Management Ltd; Dick Lagerweij, SMIT Marine Projects; John Little, ASCO UK Ltd; Mark Stanley, Veolia Environmental Services and Nigel Jenkins, KDC Contractors.

In line with the continuing increase in activity for the body, Dorothy Burke has joined the team at DNS as Projects Manager. Dorothy was formerly Operations Director with the Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF), an international organisation which facilitates the funding, development and implementation of technology in the global oil and gas industry. Her role will primarily be focussed on driving forward the various projects identified in the body’s strategy earlier this year.

Decom North Sea and Oil & Gas UK are jointly hosting the industry’s annual decommissioning conference today and tomorrow (October 5 and 6) at Dunblane, with 240 senior professionals in attendance.

A further programme of events, seminars and share fairs in collaboration with other energy development organisations and government agencies is ongoing. The activity will cover the north-east, Highlands and Central Belt in Scotland and the north-east and south-east in England where most of the potential supply chain for the decommissioning market is based.
