REpower Sytems Signs Contract with Zuidlob Wind B.V.

REpower Systems SE  has concluded a contract with Zuidlob Wind B.V., since yesterday owned by Nuon, part of Swedish Vattenfall, for the delivery of a total of 36 wind turbines. The turbines of the 3.4M104 type are to be installed in a wind farm near Zeewolde (Province Flevoland).

With a total output of around 122 megawatts (MW) the project is the largest wind farm in the Netherlands to date held by a single owner.

The turbine type 3.4M104 belongs to the latest generation of onshore wind turbines of the three-megawatt-class and is optimized for locations with strong wind conditions.

The turbines have a hub height of 98 metres and a nominal output of 3.4 MW each. The installation of the wind farm is to be completed in spring 2013.

Andreas Nauen, CEO of REpower Systems SE: “After the successful installation of the alpha ventus and Ormonde offshore projects, we are very pleased to work together with Vattenfall also in the area of onshore wind.

At the same time we are proud to jointly implement this flagship project – one of the country’s largest wind farms.

Sales on the Dutch market is being handled by the wholly owned subsidiary REpower Systems GmbH based in Hamburg. Kyriakos Kosmidis, Senior Vice President for the Europe Region, comments: “This major order is a further proof that we met the pulse of the market with our three-megawatt-series. We see an excellent demand in Europe and were able to already close contracts about more than 300 turbines of the 3.2M114 and 3.4M104 types.“

He also explains the formula for success of the series: “High hub heights in combination with large rotors and our proven REpower technology guarantee high economical efficiency and energy yields.”
