VIDEO: Greater Gabbard ‒ World’s 2nd Largest Offshore Wind Farm

The recently inaugurated Greater Gabbard is the second largest offshore wind farm in the world. It was officially opened on August 7 by Energy Minister Michael Fallon MP.

Located 23 kilometres off the coast of Suffolk, the wind farm is a 50-50 joint venture between SSE and RWE Innogy. The project is worth £1.6bn and comprises 140 wind turbines with an overall installed capacity of 504 megawatts. The turbines generate around 1,749,000 megawatt hours energy per year, which can provide enough clean electricity to power around 530,000 homes each year.
